Our hand-foraged Black Walnuts (Juglan Nigra) are commonly found all over North America and have two uses: the hull can be used to make ink, and the nut can be roasted and used in all sorts of baked goods and salads. Black walnuts are round, rough-skinned fruits that resemble a small green apple –  about 3 inches in size and they have a curious lime-like citrus smelling skin.  When they are mature, the outer skin turns from green to brown and the nut inside is easier to get at. Black Walnuts have the highest protein level of any tree nut and have a bold, rich, earthy flavour profile. Sold skin-on. Price per lb.
